| Screen | ||
|
Screen is a traditional form of ornament originated from China and
Japan in the 12th century. The embroidery, created by certified embroiders
using thin silk strands on pure silk textile, is stretched and positioned
in between two glasses, and framed by rosewood carvings. Double-side
embroidery is created on semitransparent silk gauze. Embroiders manage
to hide thread knots so that both sides look the same. When erected,
lights penetrate the screen through the textile and the artistically
carved frame, creating a soothing atmosphere in the room. The special
shiny effect of silk embroidery under different shades of light makes
the depiction of figures and landscapes on the screen even more vivid.

| Wall Hanging or Scroll | ||
| The
silk embroideries are mounted on rice paper with silk brocade border using
similar mounting methods for traditional Chinese paintings. The fine rendering
of birds, flowers, figures, and atmospheric landscapes brings nature home.
The works often convey traditional Chinese values and blessings such as
purity, elegance, longevity and happiness. They are mostly used for wall
decoration. |
